Modern slavery and public health

The role of public health in addressing modern slavery has not been fully articulated in the UK. A new briefing from Public Health England has addressed this gap by asking:
1. What is the case for public health engagement in addressing modern slavery?
2. What are the components of a ‘public health approach’ to modern slavery?
3. What are the gaps in understanding, approach and practical action in public health on the issue of modern slavery?

The West Midlands Anti Slavery Network has been working in partnership with Public Health England for some time and partnership working in the West Midlands gets a special mention in section 4.3.1 of the briefing.
